A Silent Immersion in Insight, Simplicity, and Renewal

This three-day intensive Vipassana (insight meditation) retreat offers a rare chance to pause the momentum of everyday life in the new year and turn fully toward mindful, clear seeing. Held in noble silence, the retreat will guide participants through a rhythm of seated and walking meditation designed to deepen concentration and insight.

To support a calmer inner environment, participants are encouraged to undertake the Eight Precepts, a traditional framework of ethical renewal. These precepts—including refraining from eating after the midday meal—help lighten the body and mind, reduce distraction, and enhance meditative depth. This simplified way of living is not about austerity; it’s about creating the optimal conditions for clarity to naturally arise.

Our teacher, Khenpo Tshering Chophel, will offer daily teachings and guided reflections to frame the practice and illuminate the principles of mindfulness, compassion, and insight, helping participants understand how to navigate the unfolding terrain of meditation with steadiness and wisdom.

Across the three days, participants will experience:

  • Daily teachings, offering guidance drawn from lived practice and lineage insight
  • Noble silence to ground the retreat in stillness and clarity
  • Guided and unguided Vipassana sessions
  • Walking meditation to bring awareness into movement
  • A structured environment conducive to concentration and inner quiet
  • Ethical and lifestyle simplicity through the optional Eight Precepts
  • A supportive, contemplative community, held in silence

The retreat will be at Triple Crane Retreat Center in Chelsea, MI, from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening.

Open to both experienced practitioners and committed beginners, this retreat is a powerful opportunity to settle, see clearly, and reconnect with the deeper currents of your own mind and heart. Whether you come from a Buddhist tradition or a secular mindfulness background, it is a container designed to meet you where you are and support genuine insight.

In the stillness of these three days, your mind will have the space to soften, open, and reveal its natural clarity.

While attending all three days is recommended for the fullest benefit, those who are unable to attend the entire retreat may select the karma yoga donation option when registering for fewer days. Please note that for best results, registration and credit card processing should be completed using a desktop browser, as mobile devices may not process payments reliably.
