Khenpo Tshering Chophel and many others from Karuna Buddhist Center will celebrate Saga Dawa Düchen on Wednesday, June 11, at Ann Arbor Karma Thegsum Chöling (AAKTC). Also known as Vesak in South and Southeast Asia, this is one of the most important days of the Buddhist calendar that commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha.

For Saga Dawa, we’ll start with AAKTC’s usual meditation session at 7:00 PM, followed by Khenpo Chophel’s remarks about the significance of Saga Dawa Düchen. He will then lead us in some prayers and the bathing of the Baby Buddha, followed by some snacks and informal conversation.

Recently our two centers have started to collaborate on some events, of which this is the first. This event will be a chance to make as an auspicious start to our new collaboration with AAKTC!
