Meditation on Compassion

Saturdays, 10:30-11:30 am; suitable for all levels. Free

Developing compassion is the current focus of our weekly open meditations. In combination teaching/practice sessions, Khenpo Chophel is teaching Lojong, or mind training–techniques which aim to open our hearts and nurture genuine care for all beings (including ourselves!). By recognizing that everyone shares the wish to be happy and free from suffering, we can broaden our motivation to include all beings, creating a connected, caring awareness. Practices like Tonglen (taking and sending) give us skills to build our capacity to care for all beings without judgment.

This course is ongoing, and participants can attend whenever they wish. No prior meditation experience is required. Through creative exercises and experimentation, Khenpo Chophel helps us explore the practice of “taking” or “welcoming” whatever life throws at us and “sending” or “giving” goodwill to the world. This approach helps us let go of our preoccupation with our own worries, deepening our spiritual journey and fostering genuine care for everyone.
